Voice Design
Age carries authority, warmth and history that no amount of adjectives will fake on a younger voice. Say seventy-six and the voice comes back seventy-six, with the pace and the weight that go with it.
Hear it
One sentence, naming the age in numbers. Change any part of it and listen again.
An English man of 76 from the north of England, warm and unhurried, a little gravel in a low voice, long pauses, telling a story he has told before.
Each of these came from one sentence. The prompt that produced each clip is underneath it, in the language it was written in.
"Elderly" and "old" leave the model to guess, and the guess is usually a younger voice performing age: slower, but not older. "A man of 76" and "a woman in her seventies" both land. Every clip on this page names a number.
A lower pitch, a slower pace, and more space between phrases. That means a prompt asking for gravity or authority often does not need to move pitch at all: moving the age range does it, and moving both at once overshoots.
Name it once and keep it modest. "A little gravel" or "slightly shaky" reads as age; "very rough" or "heavy rasp" reads as damage and starts eating consonants. The Marseille clip on this page asks for warmth and a slow delivery, and lets the age supply the rest.
Yes. There is no actor to license and no session to book, which matters most for exactly this age range: casting an older voice and then needing a second line six months later is the problem designing one solves.
Each has a page of its own, with what makes it sound like itself and the wording that designs one.
Every voice on this page was designed, not cast. Describe the age you need and Gradium returns a voice id you call from the API or the SDK, with no recording session and no actor licensing.
